Policy for the Functioning of the Committee
- The committee shall meet at least once a year. However, the Chairperson may convene an emergency meeting whenever necessary.
- Any changes in existing research activities must be brought to the notice of the research committee, and approval by a simple majority is required.
- The Chairperson of the research committee is empowered to monitor the execution of decisions made by advisory members and to check the progress of the Institution's research activities.
- The Chairperson is authorized to make strategic decisions, take corrective actions, and approve the research advisory committee's recommendations. They are also responsible for preparing and updating policies in accordance with the rules and regulations set by apex bodies like the UGC and NAAC, as well as the policies framed by our Institution and endorsed by the College's Governing Body.
Research Policy
- The faculty members without Ph.D. degree must enroll for their doctoral programme.
- The faculties are encouraged to involve in multidisciplinary research cutting across various disciplines to share knowledge and widen their thinking abilities.
- It is mandatory to publish research articles and books in SCOPUS/ WEB of Science /UGC indexed journals.
- All the staff and students must ensure the quality of the publication and a prior plagiarism check before journal publications are mandatory.
- To retain and motivate faculty to contribute towards achieving the institutional research goals appreciation is provided for research outcomes: journal publications books/book chapters every year.
- Faculty members may attend 2 national conferences in one academic year. Faculties are eligible to avail the registration fee for presenting their research work in conferences.
Research Promotion Policy
The disbursement of the incentives described as under shall be the prerogative of a committee constituting of Vice chairman, Principal, and Coordinator (R&IC), after ascertaining the reputation of the journal and publishers.
- Faculty who is the first or the corresponding author shall receive an incentive of Rs 30,000/- towards research publication in ABDC-A or Web of Science (Q1) or Scopus indexed Journals (Q1).
- Faculty who is the first or the corresponding author shall receive an incentive of Rs 20,000/- towards research publication in ABDC-B or Scopus-indexed Journals (Q2) or Web of Science (Q2).
- Faculty who is the first or the corresponding author shall receive an incentive of Rs 10,000/- towards research publication in ABDC or Web of Science (ESCI) or Scopus indexed Journals (Q3, Q4).
- Faculty who is the first or the corresponding author shall receive an incentive of Rs 5,000/- towards research publication in UGC Care listed Journals
- Faculty contributing a Book Chapter in Books published by reputed International/ National Publishing House will receive an Incentive of Rs.5,000/- and Rs. 3000/- respectively.
- Faculty publishing a research paper in Scopus indexed, WOS indexed, ABDC indexed & UGC care listed only shall be entitled to receive 50% of Article Publishing Charges levied by the publisher, after the publication of the article.
- Faculty contributing a Book Chapter with ISBN will receive an incentive of Rs. 1000.
- Faculty Publishing full Book with reputed International Publisher will receive an Incentive of Rs.20,000/-
- Faculty Publishing a full Book with reputed Indian National Publisher will receive an Incentive of Rs.15,000/-.
- Faculty Publishing a full Book/e-book (no scanner publication) with reputed local Publisher will receive an Incentive of Rs.5,000/-. The pocket books/e-books having less than 20 pages are not considered for research incentives.
- Faculty Publishing a Monograph with reputed International/Indian Publisher will receive an Incentive of Rs.3, 000/-. The monographs having less than 10,000 words are not considered for research incentives.
- All publications, chapters, and books should necessarily have Presidency College's name as the affiliating body
Professional Development allowances (PDA) for attending Conferences / Technical Session Chairperson / Invited Speaker
To ensure dissemination of research activities in the right forum, to create networking opportunities for collaborations, to be abreast with the latest developments in cutting edge technologies & domains faculty are encouraged to attend Conferences, Seminars, Workshops, Faculty Development Programme organized by reputed National & International Scientific/Academic/Research/Professional Bodies.
- Annually, a Professor is entitled to the PDA of Rs.30, 000/- (Academic year from August to July) for carryout the research activities within the country, and Rs. 1,50,000/- for carryout the international research activities.
- An Associate Professor is entitled to the PDA of Rs.25, 000/- (August-July for carryout the research activities within the country), and Rs. 1,00,000/- for carryout the international research activities.
- An Assistant Professor is entitled toa PDA of Rs.20,000/- (August-July for carryout the research activities within the country), and Rs. 80,000/- for international research activities.
- Professional development allowance can be utilized for up-gradation of academic qualification, taking up MOOC's& NPTEL courses, developing teaching innovation, attending conferences/seminars, invitation to be a key speaker or chairperson, FDPs/Workshops and for membership of academic/professional bodies.
- The Best paper award (National Conference) is entitled to Rs. Rs. 5,000/- and International Conference (conducted by IITs, IIMs, ISB, IISs, VIT, institute of high repute or outside India) is entitled to Rs. 10,000/-.
- If a Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor is invited as a chairperson or speaker for the conference, he is entitled to Rs. 2,500/-
- Academic Leave of 12 days in a year can be availed
- Faculty can attend not more than 4 Events in one academic year
Policy on Seed Money for Internal Research
Presidency College, Autonomous is dedicated to promoting research programs and need-based technology to enhance Research and Development at the Institutional level. To support faculty in excelling in their research areas, the college offers financial assistance. The following guidelines outline the preparation and submission of project proposals for management-funded projects through the Centre for Scientific Research and Advanced Learning.
The management encourages faculty to undertake high-level, multi-disciplinary, inter-disciplinary, or intra-disciplinary research projects that benefit the community.
- Minor Research Project: Duration of 12 months
- Major Research Project: Duration of 24 months
Submission of project proposals for management-funded projects is open from August to September each year. Applications must be submitted in the prescribed format.
- Permanent teaching faculty of the college who have completed their probationary period.
- The Major Research Project will have one Principal Investigator (PI) and a Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI).
- For minor research projects, the PI may opt for a Co-PI if needed.
- It is expected that both the PI and Co-PI will remain in the service of the organization throughout the project’s duration.
- Management-funded projects are as follow
- Major Research Project: 24 months
- Minor Research Project: 12 months
- Investigators must plan their work to complete the project within the stipulated time. An additional period of 2 months is allowed for those who seek an extension.
- Funds will be released as per the request, and transferring these funds to other heads is strictly prohibited.
- PIs must maintain separate stock registers for project funding, detailing all types of expenditures (e.g., equipment, consumables, chemicals, glassware, fabrication items, travel, contingency).
- Corresponding bills must be submitted to the administrative staff in charge after approval from the Research Director.
- If the PI cannot execute the project for a genuine reason, the Co-PI will take over with the Principal’s permission and the research committee’s recommendation.
- If the PI fails to complete the project, they must reimburse the amount to the college.
- Assets acquired through the project will belong to the institution.
- Beneficiaries of the MRP scheme who have been sanctioned a project are not eligible for a new project until the previous project’s completion and submission of the report.
- A progress report must be submitted by the investigator every 6 months.
- Awardees/Investigators must acknowledge their institutional affiliation.
- Management-funded projects should enable faculty members to apply for and obtain external research funds/grants.
