The department hosts various competitions every year that facilitate logical and software development skills of the students which also promotes job opportunities. The Department’s objective and endeavour is to promote sound technical, professional knowledge and creativity in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. The department of computer applications inculcates certain best practices in congruence with the dynamically evolving world. Here are the few:
- Go-Green: Under the go-green initiative, while hosting events such as Faculty development programmes , it was decided unanimously and practiced strictly not to use papers for any of the processes such as flyers making, participators registration, obtaining feedback and issuance of certificates; all these are done in electronic mode thereby reducing the carbon footprint. The same policy applied while conducting Value Added programmes for the students to enhance their technical skills. Furthermore, the e-waste generated are disposed safely through e-waste management companies periodically.
- Computer Graphics Design: Some of our interested and potential students are selected, trained and deployed for photoshoot work, poster making and brochure design during fest and other major events held at department / college level. This facilitates our Students to become skillful professionals.
- Video Editing: Teasers and videos are more expressive when it comes to marketing or reaching out participants and clients while hosting any events. Our students are provided with opportunities to exhibit their talents by authoring multimedia content in all the co-curricular activities.
- In-House Projects: Few of our faculty members guided students to develop and implement projects in College, an overview of the same are given below:
Question Paper Generator: We have a pre-set questions bank for each subject, from which the question papers are generated during internal examinations. Faculty members are able to save plenty of time by avoiding typing and formatting. Also, uniform and neat format is guaranteed without any hassles.
Smart Irrigation: In urban areas, nowadays, water has become a scarce resource; using it wisely has become order of the day. This IoT based system regulates the flow of water only when it is required, also required quantum of water pumped from the source, thereby wastage is reduced to a great extent.
Automated IA marks uploader: At the end of every semester internal assessment marks are submitted to university. This involves, laborious typing work, which eventually leads to errors. The automated IA marks uploader software eliminates typing work thereby errors also because this uploads the entire set of marks to University website just on a click of mouse button.
Smart Notice Board: Our department is functioning at basement floor of our college building, which receives very limited daylight. Hence, most of the time lights are required to be on state to illuminate the block. Smart Notice Board (IoT based) are equipped with sensor based LED lights that start glowing while sensing any human being is approaching nearby the board, otherwise lights remain off. This saves electricity power to a reasonable extent.
