The Internal Hackathon is a preliminary event organized at the college level, designed to select teams for the prestigious Smart India Hackathon (SIH). It provides students with an opportunity to develop innovative solutions to real-world problems, replicating the format and spirit of the national event. This internal competition encourages students to engage in critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork, aligning with SIH’s goal of bridging the gap between academic knowledge and practical application.
The main purpose of the internal hackathon is to identify and nurture innovative solutions developed by students that address real-world challenges. It serves as a qualifying event for the Smart India Hackathon, ensuring that the best teams are selected to represent the institution at the national level. By fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and handson learning, the hackathon aims to prepare students to solve problems with a practical, innovative mindset.
The judging process of the Internal Hackathon was meticulously structured, with each project evaluated on a range of critical parameters, ensuring a comprehensive assessment.
The criteria included the novelty of the idea, where originality and innovation were considered, as well as the complexity of the solution, recognizing teams that tackled more
intricate problems. Sustainability was assessed, with judges looking for long-term viability of
the project. Clarity in both presentation and execution was vital, along with details of the
idea, ensuring thoroughness. User experience was a key factor, focusing on how intuitive
and accessible the solution was. The potential for future work was also considered, highlighting scalability and further development opportunities. Feasibility and practicability
ensured that the ideas could realistically be implemented, both in terms of technical
resources and practical constraints. Each of these parameters was scored out of 5 marks,
leading to a well-rounded and fair evaluation.
